Manga on Mechanics and Fashion Style Details

I draw this one because of the embroidery and trying to capture the silhouette of the model’s body. Have a hard time drawing this one and maybe redrew it in the future.

I saw the first manga comics back in 1987 from a friend. What I saw was nothing similar to any western comics that is “dull” with colors and the paper. Manga comics comes in black and white and occasional first few colored pages. The details are awesome especially on serious stories. Really cool.

But what really captures me are details in mechanics. Cars are what people would see in real life and the clothes with designs and drapes are artistically drawn. The mood of the character, windy scenery and the clothes like waves in the beach is captured on still drawing as if not moving is like animated playing in your mind.

And women clothes is really fun and challenging to draw. It is why drawing women is nice to draw capturing the mood and pose. Of course drawing naked women is nice but sometimes, they have to be decently clothed too.

Cold War Machines Tomcats, Tigers, Hokums and MiGs

Congested traffic is becoming worst and normal. Time to get my pad and draw something. In this exercise I draw in memory what I like most, fighter planes. I start with my quartet Tomcat, Tiger, Crusader and Rafale then added the rest of the gang that would fit the limited space of the half 8×11 inch bond paper.

Using a ballpoint, my pen tool since childhood and choice, sketch in the middle. The bus was overloaded and luckily I was seated near the window because I won’t try drawing seated near the middle island. Everyone was trying to be busy tik-tak their smartphones surfing, updating social stats or watching videos therefore free from roaming eyes.

Once on the expressway, I was finishing some minor touches. People familiar with military hardware would know this and these are just the basics. Again I was drawing in memory and hopefully captured the image of these weapons.

One thing I like to comment though was, the F14 is no longer in service with the US Navy unlike its counterpart with the Air Force F15 and F16. Its last action was in Iraq and change role from fighter to attack role renaming it from Tomcat to Bombcat. Those swing wings gave the concept of anime famed Macross Veritech fighter Valkyries.

The war is over for some of these sky warriors but the battle still persist with land forces called terrorist.

Hope we find peace in our lifetime.

Testing Vector Graphic With Inkscape.

This is a more decent sketch attempt using Inkscape so far drawing with a Leopard tank. Inkscape is an alternative to commercial vector graphics like Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw. I have to admit, I have this fear of advance graphic application because of too many tools to choose when all I need is simply to draw. Getting my hands dirty with inkscape really took me a long time to figure out how it works. I’ll Keep practicing.

Hoping to understand more about this great drawing software. Great because its free.
