How To Be Secure? Passwords and Avoid Evil Checkbox

As an Domino Mail Admin before, keeping end users inform of email netiquette and security is my advocacy.

So to cut the chase, two of the most ignored security disciplines people ignored are…

1. Password.

  • Minimum of 8 characters in mixed characters (numbers, letters, special characters), 15 characters much better.
Do include a “space” for added complexity.
  • Do not share your password.
  • Do not write it on paper/post it on LCD screens.

2. The dreaded Check box “Keep me logged/signed in“.

Even without giving password to friends, your complex relationship or your spouse, the fact that when you open any emails (yahoo, gmail, hotmail), ticking that check box is giving privacy up for grabs since anyone with access to your computer and start those apps, they have the keys to your secrets.

Don’t be lazy. Keep nasty intrusion away so don’t check that box.

Actually its very basic but are first and foremost security of all.

Enjoy
